Angie Giurtino’s Story

I lost my kids in Nebraska in 2001 due to postpartum depression and a dirty house, my mother had also just passed away and my husband had just left me with 4 kids(1 being a newborn). Case kept dragging on, despite me completing case plan and home being cleaned up right away. Substance abuse was never an issue. Had another baby in December 2003 that they swore they weren’t taking, they took her straight out of the hospital. February of 2005 was due to have my son at any time, they told me if I didn’t relinquish my rights to my children in care that they’d TPR and take my new son also. I really didn’t think I had any choice. Turns out that they placed every one of my kids, except my daughter born in December 2003, into abusive adoptive homes. Fast forward to now. Moved to Florida in 2008. My oldest daughter had a baby boy in 2015, we’ve been raising him since birth and adopted him a few years ago. She had another baby in 2021 that DCF took right out of the hospital due to substance abuse. They refuse to place him with us because of my 2001 case, and now won’t even let me visit him since I relinquished my rights to my daughter in 2005 and am not legally “kin”. That’s my story, the shortened version of it anyway.
